About Us

Mrs. Judy Wylie’s educational background includes a degree in violin and viola performance, with a cello minor, from Crane Institute of Music in Potsdam, New York.  Her graduate study on violin was done with Rachmael Weinstock at the Manhattan School of Music, and graduate study on viola was done with Jessie Cecci, former concertmaster with the Colorado Symphony.  Judy played with the Long Island Philharmonic for several years.  She also has been an active music educator in several school systems as well as her own private violin, viola, and cello studio.  Mrs. Wylie also was a double major on clarinet.

Judy Wylie and her husband, Rod, have conducted youth orchestras across Europe, with the highlight of those years being a third place win in an international youth orchestra competition in Vienna.

Rod and Judy Wylie with Mountain Melody Music

Rod and Judy Wylie team teach.  Judy teaches technique, and Rod, an accomplished pianist, works on solo performance challenges as an accompanist.

Judy’s most successful method of running a private studio is to have one of the monthly lessons in a master class performance mode.  This method would have a regular private lesson for  45 or 60 minutes.  Then once a month, a master class with students of like ability for one or two hours (depending on advancement level) to work on technique and performance.  This philosophy has been well received for over twenty years.  We find that it gives students a closer connection with the music studio, as well as reasons to practice and perform well, and to develop close friends who share a love of music.

Each year the Wylie’s take the studio to a four day music camp prior to the final concert in June.
